10 Greatest Family Activities
- Watching a
Movie together- video, rented, or swap with a friend.
- Family
Trip/Vacation - Small weekend trips to State Parks or
longer vacations to theme parks or special tourist
destinations.
- Hiking -
trails in the mountains or at your local State Park.
- Swimming -
your pool, local swimming pool/hole, beach, YMCA.
- Internet -
discovering favorite television shows or sites
together that are known to be kids safe. Some
exploring before you sit down to do this will help you
find the sites faster and make sure they are kid safe
too.
- Club or
Event - Holiday events like fireworks displays or town
musicals are a great way to include all of the family.
- School
Involvement - Get involved! Your child and school need
you! You needn't run the PTA, but you can help with
special events or meetings. Show your school colors
and have some fun! Your child will thank you for it
without words! :-)
- Sports -
T-ball in the Spring, Swimming, Soccer, Basketball,
Softball, and so many more. Why not get your child
interested in sports because a little friendly
competition helps a growing child.
- Eating
together - This basic concept is often forgotten about
and if utilized properly, your family will learn to
appreciate eating together for meals. A table forces
people to sit together and face each other, why not
have your family get back in touch again with each
other by eating and gathering together for some
friendly conversation. Try to keep conversation light
and healthy. Discuss the days events or a family trip.
How about what they will do this summer or their pet.
Explore your families world more and get to know your
family!
- Reading -
This can be a family event that may be remembered for
the rest of your lives. Get out a good book and have
each family member read a chapter or a section or a
page. Continue on the next night or the next family
night until the book is finished. Explore your world
and discover what lies in books that is very
stimulating - the words! If you can't find a good
book, then ask at the library or just pick one. A
great family activity can be visiting your local
library too. Share the wonder of
books and your life can be a
life long learning experience.
