17 Best Paint Brushes
Grab these paint brushes and let
your kids make
some unique paintings with these
all time favorite
paint brushes. Safety should be a
concern at all times
and so parental supervision is a
must for those with
allergies, we suggest you avoid
the brushes that a child
might be allergic to. Have fun!
1. Plastic bags - these can make some really original
art each time.
2. Straws
and blow the colors around when using liquid paints-
just
make sure they are non-toxic paints and discourage
swallowing/sucking.
Not great for younger children.
3. Popsicle sticks
- makes a child find ways of painting thick, wide,
or
thin lines.
4.
Flowers and leaves - work well for flower prints
and painting with
flowers. Pick only those that you will use and pick
where permitted only.
Watch out for allergies, again, here.
5. Store bought paintbrushes
- great for those who stick to traditional
styles and for those who prefer store bought
paintbrushes.
6. Sponges
- great for sponges of all sizes, kinds, and shapes.
Will make
some neat patterns or cut into forms/shapes to make
painting a breeze.
7. Paper towel blot - makes a unique design that is different every time.
8. Feathers - can create many different designs.
9. Potatoes/Apples
- cut a shape into the potato or apple and dip it in
the paint, then stamp your way to happiness.
10. Marbles
- great way to paint with marbles as you roll them into
a
mixture and then on to your painting canvas. A great
tool for use is shoe
boxes to place the paint and roll the marble in. Must
have a paint that
will somewhat adhere to the marble. Then roll onto your
paper and
create a different view.
11. Ice - makes a unique water color design on paper when done right!
12. Hay Brushes - get some hay, cut it down to a small size, and tie to
the end of a stick. Will swish the paint on the paper for a different effect
than many are used to.
13. Hair - collect the hair off a hairbrush, wash and dry if you prefer
clean hair and then tie to a Popsicle stick. Makes a great brush every time
if you have the patience to tie it and collect enough hair.
14.
Fingers - will do it every time. Some of the best art is done with
finger painting!
15. Rice - rice can make a neat picture if you have some shoeboxes of paint
with a slightly thickened paint mixture. Drop the rice in to add the color
to the rice and then scoop up the rice with a spoon and drop onto the paper.
Then shake the paper upside down and the rice should fall off and leave
little prints of the paint behind. This is rather messy, but can produce a
lot of neat paintings. Great advice, set up floor cloths to capture the
falling rice or do outside.
16. Yarn/String - great string paintings are made this way. Gives another
different effect.
17. Cotton balls/Q-tips - a different type of paintbrush, here, again. Blot
it or soak it with paint.
