Imagination is the Key Activity

For this activity, you will need (not all is required):
Empty plastic soda bottles
Empty (and washed out) milk jugs
Empty egg containers
Old pieces of fabric
Glue
Markers and pens
Construction paper
Popsicle sticks
Confetti
Birdseed
String
Scissors
Paint
Tape (this can be used to place on all sharp edges - will not work in every
situation)
Scraps, or miscellaneous pieces of materials, or recycled items
The idea here is to build a house to hold an animal, or a special feeding
dish for your pet. A great idea is a birdhouse, or bird feeder. Give the kids
the materials and a piece of paper. Ask them to design their own birdfeeder
or birdhouse. Then have them use the materials that you have on hand to
create that image they have on paper. The key is imagination, and to use the
materials only on hand. These creations need not be for indoors only, when
finished, they can make great window decorations for the kitchen window
over the sink, too. Please keep safety in mind at all times (adult supervision is
required), especially with the scissors and sharp edges. See what you and
your child(ren) can come up with. And most importantly, HAVE FUN!
