Point Game of Knowledge
Items needed:
- Paper.
- Pencils/pens.
- 2 bowls or two hats.
- Scissors.
- Timer.
- More than 3 players.
Directions: Have fun cutting up little pieces of paper and writing the alphabet down letter by letter on the pieces. Then place all of them in a bowl or hat so
that they can easily be reached. Also cut larger pieces so that words (categories) can fit on them and place them in a separate bowl. Don’t forget to invent a few categories of your own that might become favorite categories of your
family. This game is great for families with older children and Family Time.
Categories that we have used are:
- Animals.

- Cities.
- Countries.
- States.
- Holiday’s.
- Disney Character’s.
- Sports.
- Nature.
- History event.
- Geography.
Ocean related.
- Famous People.
- Road related.
- Vehicle related.
- Flower.
- Relative name.
Object: A letter is chosen from the alphabet bowl and a category is chosen from the category bowl. Timer is set and the designated person to call out the
category and the letter does so. Each player comes up with an answer within the designated time (a minute is a great time limit). Players can also write down skip if they do not know an answer too. You can go for as long as you like
or set a called category limit of 10 or 20. Players can vote on the answers given, and if they do not think the word is valid, then the player will not receive a point. The player with the highest points, wins. Game can be played over
and over to gain faster results or to increase knowledge.
This is a great thinking game and great for learning new
skills. You can have a dictionary close by for the proper spelling of words, or looking up a questionable term, an encyclopedia for help with identifying items, and even a dictionary for each child that can be used for them to gain
points if the word is actually spelled correctly and within the allotted time. If you find a letter that is constantly at fault for use, then remove it from the bowl or hat for faster playing times. Remember that if the term or word
chosen can not be proved, then there isn’t any point.
